Material Determinations with Flow Meter Components

Materials are chosen based on the application and therefore, different grades of carbides and ceramics have better characteristics for flow metering applications than others.   Many companies use nickel carbides, which are preferred in corrosive environments, such as water and water soluble pollutants.  Carbides are known to improve durability and minimize maintenance over time.  Other customers prefer ceramics because of the low thermal conductivity and heat resistance properties.  If your application is requiring elevated temperatures, ceramic may be the best material to use.  Ceramics also have a high durability, meaning they are long lasting and hard wearing.   

Finish Requirements with Flow Meter Components

Surface finish and wear characteristics are of most importance to our Flow Metering and Oil and Gas customers.  This is because of contact surfaces (surface finishes) and increasing component life (wear characteristics).  Surface finishes have a large impact on the performance and durability of a part.  Many parts and components produced for this segment have surface finishes of 4RA (.1016 micron) or better.  GLE-Precision has perfected proprietary techniques to improve the surface finish of a part.  As a company, we say we can provide a surface finish of .4RA (.01016 micron) or better.  To see this for yourself, Contact Us and send us your prints!
